Dr. Nancy Goldov

I grew up in the northwest seeing Mount Rainier and the Seattle skyline transformed with time, and remember when the Smith Tower and the Space Needle were the tallest buildings in the city. After graduating from high school and obtaining my BA from the Evergreen State College I left the northwest in 1979 to pursue psychology and dance/movement therapy at New York University. I worked as a dance/movement therapist in Manhattan for two years, and then returned to the northwest in 1984 to be closer to my family and the beauty of the northwest. I found rewarding work in Seattle dancing many hours a day with individuals and groups in assisted living facilities and nursing homes as a dance/movement therapist and licensed mental health counselor.

From 2005 to 2011, I attended a doctoral program at Argosy University-Seattle in clinical psychology to learn the necessary skills to establish a private psychotherapy practice, offer Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and conduct learning disabilities assessments. I devoted my doctoral studies to working with people with cancer and to researching the effects of dance/movement therapy on body image in women with breast cancer. After several years of operating my psychotherapy practice, I completed a two year certificate program in psychoanalytic psychotherapy at the Seattle Psychoanalytic Society and Institute.

In addition to being a licensed psychologist and board certified-dance/movement therapist, I am also the psychologist consultant to the Seattle Film Institute and I lead consult groups for creative art therapists and creativity based therapists. I remain active in several professional associations and serve on the Washington State Psychological Association Board as a Public Education Co-Chair.

I treat people with diverse needs including concerns about anxiety, depression, grief, stress, body image, relationship difficulties, gender identity, sexual orientation, intersex conditions, and career, family planning, and infertility.
